New Mac powered by a revolutionary single-chip processor

You have probably already heard that Apple got into the processor race and immediately succeeded in this. And the 2020 MacBook Air was one of the company's first devices to be powered by the Apple M1 APU. This is a single-chip system that houses 8 processor and 8 graphics cores, a neural unit for machine learning, a video core and RAM. Despite the rawness of the software and the use of the emulator, the Rosetta M1 performs marvels of speed, providing performance on par with the Ryzen 7 5800H and Core i7-1185G7. The only negative is that Apple, as always, exorbitant prices for flash memory, so in our modification we had to limit ourselves to a 256 GB SSD drive.

Reaction speed like an Olympic athlete

At the same time, it is damn frisky - Air with M1 turns on in just a few seconds, and the laptop itself wakes up from sleep faster than you have time to lift the display lid. But that's not all. Firstly, the chip boasts a Nordic character and heats up very little. So weak that the active cooling system was actually thrown out of the laptop, leaving a couple of passive radiators. Therefore, the MacBook M1 does not make noise from the word at all. Secondly, the chip, inspired by mobile processors, consumes very little power, which significantly saves battery power: 15 hours of work in browser mode and 18 hours of video playback are normal for it.

The same Air, but with passive cooling

Otherwise, it's still the same thin, sleek, and tidy MacBook Air with a brushed-aluminium chassis and a redesigned scissor-style keyboard that hasn't replaced the ever-breaking butterfly keyboards that Apple has been pushing through for years. The 13-inch Retina display is as beautiful as ever: brightness, contrast and colour reproduction are at their best, and content in 2K resolution impresses with its detail. Image auto-calibration using the True Tone feature also works great, you rarely pay attention to it, but if you accidentally turn it off, your hand immediately reaches to return it to its place.

USB4 ports and upgraded webcam with three microphones

But the equipment has been somewhat improved in comparison with the Air models of the past and the year before last. For example, the webcam is equipped with three microphones for better voice transmission during video conferences, and the built-in speakers make friends with Dolby Atmos. The Force Touch touchpad is able to recognize the force of pressing. And on the side panel there are brand new USB4 ports that support all the goodies of the Thunderbolt 3.2 interface, including charging and the ability to transfer an image to an external monitor.

Additional features laptop Apple MGND3:
  • Using adapters with Thunderbolt 3, you can connect USB-A, HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI, VGA devices (sold separately)
  • Force Touch touchpad is sensitive to pressure and features tactile feedback technology
  • Includes: USB-C charging cable (2m), USB-C 30W power adapter
  • Three microphones
Equipped with Magic Keyboard with scissor mechanism.

Model overview based on user reviews
The Apple MacBook Air 13 (2020) M1 is highly praised for its display quality, performance, and battery life. Users appreciate its lightweight and compact design, making it ideal for portability. The M1 processor delivers fast and efficient performance, handling multiple tasks smoothly, although the 256GB storage and limited number of ports are noted drawbacks. The Magic Keyboard and trackpad receive positive feedback for their usability. While the laptop is not ideal for gaming, it excels in productivity tasks, with the macOS offering a user-friendly and stable experience. Despite some concerns about the price and basic configuration, many users find it a worthwhile investment, especially for those integrated into the Apple ecosystem. Overall, the MacBook Air M1 is recommended for its power, autonomy, and design, though potential buyers should consider their storage and connectivity needs.

Quality, compact, silent, autonomous

Pleasant impression and feeling of quality
Borrowed from a friend for a while, just to get familiar with the system, having used only Windows/Linux systems for over 20 years. The first thing that stands out is the quality of materials and assembly, simply top-notch, nothing creaks or feels loose. Next, an excellent IPS screen with high resolution and 100% sRGB. My eyes, sensitive to "PWM," felt rested and enjoyed this display. Another very pleasant aspect for me is the AMAZING sound, especially for such a small body where you wouldn't expect it. For the first time in my life, I didn't feel like using headphones while watching a movie—the sound is rich, expansive, with pronounced mids and highs, and at maximum volume, it fills the entire room like a speaker. Moving on to the touchpad—it's a masterpiece, my Asus, which costs no less, isn't even close to matching the quality, positioning accuracy, and simply the tactile feel of using it; I had no desire to take out a mouse. The keyboard is also decent—everything is of high quality. As for the system—at times it's a "dark forest," but that is all resolved with experience. Overall, everything is very fast, predictable, no glitches or freezes. Meanwhile, the version I had was the basic 8/256 one, and I didn't feel even a hint that it lacked anything: Telegram, Safari, Chrome with 10+ tabs, GIMP, several folders with photos all open—everything runs smoothly and lasts about 12 hours on battery, with passive cooling and absolutely no noise.

Also pleasantly surprised by the small 30 W charger, very compact, but fully handles its job.
Would like at least one USB A port, thinner display bezels, and charging like in previous or next generations - magnetic, because when one of the two ports is occupied, it's not ideal, especially if you want to connect a hub and it just doesn't fit.

A very well-balanced machine with a wide range of positive qualities.

A masterpiece of industrial design. Very lightweight, thin, and compact. Splendid screen, maybe a higher refresh rate would be nice, but for content creation and consumption, it provides very rich display. The M series processors have resulted in a wonderful combination of power, speed, and battery life, which in turn are efficient on hardware and heat management. 10-15 hours of active, silent operation - in a compact case, it's really good.
+ Design, ergonomics, lightness, performance, and autonomy, fingerprint scanner
- 60 Hz, not enough ports, additional dock with connectors or adapters may be needed
Slightly overpriced, but justified - not just because of the brand
