A wide-angle zoom lens doesn't necessarily have to have high aperture, but you still want a constant aperture throughout the entire focal length range. It's exactly such a model as Canon RF 14-35mm f/4.0L IS USM.
The lens turned out to be exactly 1 mm “wider” than its counterpart — Canon RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM. Moreover, it weighs more compact and 300 g less. The maximum aperture of the considered "wide" remains stable at f/4.0 regardless of the selected focal length. The optical image stabilization system, which compensates up to 5.5 stops on unstabilized cameras and up to 7 stops on cameras with matrix stabilization, is the one to compensate for the potential lack of aperture.
The model provides an optimal viewing angle for landscape, interior, and everyday photography. Its optical scheme is composed of the “16 elements in 9 groups” formula with proprietary SWC and ASC lens coatings to enhance image quality. The sharpness is focused using the Nano USM ultrasonic drive, which quickly latches onto the subject and operates almost silently (videographers will appreciate it).
Canon RF 14-35mm f/4.0L IS USM is equipped with a 9-blade diaphragm, three control rings, reliable dust and moisture protection. The model comes "out of the box" with a petal hood. On the front frame of the lens, you can install filters with a diameter of 77 mm. With its advantages, the wide-angle lens will also cost less than its closest “relative” in the form of the aforementioned 15-35mm f/2.8L lens.

In early summer 2024, the range of full-frame optics for the mirrorless Canon RF system was complemented by a remarkable 35mm fixed lens with a high maximum aperture of f/1.4.
The model is optimally suited for both photography and video shooting. Judge for yourself, the optical scheme of the lens minimizes “focus breathing,” the manual diaphragm ring has a stepless movement, and for autofocus, the Nano USM drive with an additional linear motor VCM is used. The sharpness of the 35mm prime is focused instantly and completely silently.
The lens is assembled in a dust and moisture-resistant housing, slightly less than 100 mm in length and weighing 555 g. The front frame of the model is compatible with filters with a diameter of 67 mm. The optical formula of the Canon 35mm f/1.4 RF L VCM comprises 14 elements in 11 groups with Canon Super Spectra and Air Sphere lens coatings. The front lens has a fluorine coating that additionally repels dirt and sand.
What is unusual in the lens is the 11-blade diaphragm, which allows for spectacular background blurring in shots with a shallow depth of field. The model is suitable for both the full-frame mirrorless Canon EOS R cameras and the brand's cine cameras (in particular, it is compatible with the Canon EOS C400 RF).

For portrait photographers, the Canon lens range has a very interesting lens Canon RF 85mm f/1.2L USM. You can also get a more far-reaching fixed 135mm f/1.8L as a replacement or in addition to it. It will be discussed.
First and foremost, the lens is aimed at large-scale portrait shooting. At the same time, the shallow depth of field effectively separates the subject from the background — the bokeh of the model is rendered beautifully. The fixed lens delivers razor-sharp images even with a maximum aperture of f/1.8. The edges of the frame also remain sharp, although this is not always noticeable due to the background blur.
A significant advantage of the Canon RF 135mm f/1.8L IS USM is the built-in optical stabilization system that compensates for up to 5.5 stops of shutter speed or exposure. With the stabilizer, shooting handheld at critical shutter speeds is much easier, as even the slightest camera movements can result in losing precious focus. By the way, the ultrasonic motor USM is responsible for focusing the lens — the model's autofocus system works quickly, clearly, and silently.
Canon's fixed lens is built with a reliable dust and moisture-resistant body. The model weighs 935 g. Additionally, two programmable buttons are placed on its body, which can be assigned quick access functions from the camera menu. Convenient control of in-demand shooting parameters will come in handy for any ardent photographer.

Unspoken standards among zooms for full-frame cameras are considered to be lenses with a range of 24-70 mm focal lengths and an unchanged maximum aperture of f/2.8. However, Canon's portfolio has a more interesting specimen — this is a unique model covering the demanded range of 28-70 mm and the highest constant aperture of f/2.0.
The lens is a more expensive and more powerful alternative to the standard “luxury” zoom Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM. The extraordinary feature of the model is the maximum aperture of f/2.0 across the entire focal length range, opening unprecedented opportunities to realize creative potential in photography. At the same time, the resolving power remains consistently high at the center and periphery of the frame from the widest diaphragm openings, and the picture is guaranteed to be unmarred by aberrations.
The model is perfect for shooting various plots even in low light conditions of the frame. The only nuance is that it does not have an optical image stabilization system. However, the user can always rely on the camera's internal stabilizer, which is present in many Canon full-frame mirrorless cameras (but not all). If the lens was armed with a stabilizer, it would have resulted in a weight increase of the structure. The model already weighs almost one and a half kilograms.
The sharpness is assisted by a fast and silent USM autofocus motor. The zoom is particularly praised for the 9-blade circular diaphragm construction — bokeh in portrait photography will be of the highest level. Large filters of an unusual 95 mm diameter are intended to be used with the model. And of course, the lens has reliable dust and moisture protection for comfortable shooting in any conditions.

The bright zoom lens Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Z covers the sought-after telephoto focal length range and is positioned as a convenient hybrid solution for photo and video shooting.
In terms of dimensions and control layout, the model is identical to the universal zoom lens Canon 24-105mm f/2.8L RF IS USM Z. This ensures convenient switching of lenses during video shooting (without the need to calibrate accompanying equipment). The length of the regarded telephoto is 199 mm, the weight is about 1.1 kg.
Compared to Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L RF IS USM the model features an improved optical design with 18 elements in 15 groups. It is complemented by an 11-blade diaphragm for an impressive bokeh effect and special lens coatings (Air Sphere Coating, Super Spectra, fluorine coating of the front lens). The lens supports working with 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters to increase zoom without compromising optical qualities.
The autofocus of the model is powered by two powerful Nano USM drives. The telephoto also includes a 5.5-stop optical stabilization system. Together with the matrix stabilization, its effectiveness reaches up to 7.5 stops of shutter speed or exposure at the center of the frame and up to 7 stops at the edges. Finally, videographers will appreciate the model's minimal “focus breathing,” click-less diaphragm control, and support for working with Canon's motorized zoom drives.
