Receipt and label printers with Wi-Fi connectivity
Wi-Fi
— a wireless connection technology used nowadays both for working in computer networks and for direct connection with other devices. The specific connection format supported by a particular printer should be specified separately.General features of working in a network format are described in detail in the “LAN” section. Also note here that Wi-Fi support is more expensive than a wired connector, but this type of connection is much more convenient — due, in fact, to the absence of a wire. Thanks to this, firstly, during the initial connection, you do not need to pull the cable — it is enough that the printer is in the coverage area of the Wi-Fi router or access point; and during operation, the wire does not get under your feet and does not create inconvenience. Secondly, the printer can be freely moved within the Wi-Fi coverage — again, without fiddling with laying or reconnecting the network cable.
As for direct connection with other devices, this feature allows you to work with smartphones, tablets, laptops and other equipment that has Wi-Fi modules and supports Wi-Fi Direct mode. However, specifically in printers for labels/receipts, such a possibility is quite rare — Bluetooth communication has become more common (see the relevant paragraph).
