The piece arrangement is asymmetrical and strategic battles take place, with the attacking side having more pieces than the king and soldiers. In order for the side using the white pieces (the king) to win, the king must reach one of the four corner squares. The player using the dark colored piece (attacking side) defends the movement of the white piece (the king's side) and wins by capturing the king's piece. This high quality Nefataful set is constructed from beautifully molded resin parts with an exceptional level of detail. The pieces come in two different designs and are finished in woodgrain and cream colors. This piece is based on the famous 12th century Isle of Lewis chess pieces. A natural linen board is also included, decorated with typical Viking patterns. Linen boards are lightweight, foldable, and rollable for easy storage.
