Superbly finished, the Reproduction Staunton Chessmen 1849 Model 4.4 inch King are handcrafted in ebony and boxwood in the world famous and classic Staunton design. At 4.4 inches, the king is an imposing figure and along with his supporting army, is perfectly weighted for balance with billiard cloth covered bases for board protection. The ebony quality makes this set, not only an enviable acquisition but also a good investment and heirloom for future generations. The perfectly constructed laminated wenge coloured large wooden Chess Piece case is manufactured by the famous family run company, Manopoulos of Greece so, rest assured, it has been well made by expert craftsmen. It features a large compartment together with the addition of brass colour hinges and the Manopoulos signature brass clasps to keep the lid closed, the resulting product is a timeless classic.
