Tamiya Models Nelson BattleshipPRODUCT DESCRIPTION The HMS Nelson launched as a Nelson class type ship on September 3 1925 and entered service in 1927. Like its sister ship the HMS Rodney the Nelson had three 16 treble gun towers placed in the well-protected front half of the ship (bow/midship). She was at times flagship of the Royal Navy and initially served mostly together with her sister ship HMS Rodney. In World War II the Nelson belonged to the Homefleet and was involved in the search for various German warships. From 1941 she supported the Allied landings in North Africa and later the landing on Sicily. When landing in Normandy she ran on two mines in the summer of 1944. After its repair it was used in the Pacific then transferred to the reserve and scrapped in 1949. The TAMIYA kit model impresses with its accuracy of fit and detail. SAFETY WARNING Safety warning: not suitable for children under the age of 14.
