Calcium started being added to the alloy for two reasons: First, to extend the battery life for those who don't care for their battery (wealthy people who buy, use, discard, then buy new ones). Second, to shorten the lifespan for the majority of users who can't afford new ones, making it impossible to fully charge the battery due to electrolyte stratification and the inability to mix it with the charging current without causing damage. To further shorten the battery life, they are stored in warehouses without charging until sold, which is basically the death of any battery. The first MUTLU I bought, which was completely dry and without electrolyte, lasted me 12 years and died from a short circuit. Those 12 years are what I consider the minimum lifespan of a simple battery. Anything less is the doing of a battery mafia. the first dry one from scratch served me for 12 years. The rest are wet, flooded by retail chains, and endured in warehouses without recharging for plate sulfation, lasted for 4 years. |
I bought the battery in the fall of 2017 with the onset of the first cold weather. It reliably lasted 4 winters... During this time, it didn't let me down much, starting the engine in frosts of -20.. -25 degrees. In the fall of 2021, it started to fail, and in December it completely died on an early December morning at a temperature of -2 degrees, unable to turn the starter of the Opel. Over the 4 years, the battery was recharged several times at the service station. it survived 4 winters and thanks for that. Let's see how other batteries will survive with the same parameters.
