Model overview based on user reviews
The Michelin Alpin A4 tires are generally praised for their performance on asphalt and wet surfaces, with users noting their quietness and durability. They handle well in mild snow and slush, making them suitable for Central European winters. However, they struggle on ice and compacted snow, especially as temperatures drop below -15 degrees Celsius, where they tend to harden and lose grip. Despite lacking spikes, the tires are appreciated for their directional tread pattern and deep sipes, which contribute to minimal noise levels. While some users find them expensive, they are recommended for their overall balance and reliability, particularly in city driving conditions. Users with extensive experience highlight that these tires perform best in temperatures between +5 to -5 degrees Celsius. Overall, the Michelin Alpin A4 is a solid choice for those prioritizing comfort and performance in moderate winter conditions, though caution is advised on icy roads.

Skated from 2012 to 2017. Spain. 195x65x15. Although the wear is less than half - I will buy a new one. It goes well on compacted snow, clean asphalt. Quiet With wear 40% - Ice!!!! use Michelin Alpin A4 185/65 R15 88T more than year |
In general, everyone remembers what the past winter of 2012-2013 was like. It was brutal. It rained all November, immediately froze, and then a lot of snow piled on top, this situation persisted even in Kyiv all winter. If they cleared it, it was only on the main streets, where cars drove normally, but the smaller streets were terrible, with everyone slipping here and there. And March 22 was a nightmare. But it managed to make it up a big hill on Krasnozvezdny. It barely made it, and everyone had to get out of the car. While the asphalt is wet and there is just a bit of snow, it's okay. But once it's truly wintery conditions, it's not great. It struggles to grip. Almost on every hill where there's ice or packed snow, it's very tough to get going again, there's no traction. You can drive out, if you're not bottomed out, generally speaking, if you have good skills with the gas, steering, and gearbox. Drives well on asphalt in any winter weather, also fine on wet surfaces. Can handle mild snow. Soft, not very noisy. Does not drive on ice at all! It’s very, very hard, difficult for it to pull uphill. On compacted snow - poorly. On an icy track - you constantly think it might skid, only at a low speed is it possible. |
The tires are just awesome, simply indispensable at the beginning and end of winter! Very deep grooves. Driving in slush is just a pleasure. directional tread pattern, deep sipes, minimal noise level no spikes, but that doesn't bother )) |
