I'm writing a truly honest review about these tires. Bought them a month ago after some thinking (tests, reviews, etc.). I needed a decent non-studded tire for city driving, highways, and snow. Before this, I drove on Goodyear Ice Plus for six seasons (not an ad, but the tires were the bomb for me). They were discontinued in 2014, and in 2018, production started in Poland; so, the quality is not the same. In general, about the Michelin - the only plus is the noiselessness, everything else is just one big minus. When changing tires, one tire turned out to be slightly warped (the steering pulled to the right, switched it out for another on the same rim and it stopped pulling). And the main thing - today, the first snow fell, and it was terrible. On slightly compacted snow, it constantly slips when starting and doesn't brake at all, just like a cow on ice. It kind of reminded me of KAMA all-season tires from the '90s. The conclusion is that these tires are definitely not for compacted snow or icy surfaces. And this is the more expensive version - made in Germany. Ultimately, it's up to you to decide. Best regards. Very quiet, beyond all praise It slips even on slightly packed snow. It doesn't brake AT ALL on ice. use Michelin Alpin 6 month or more |
Winter tyres that maintain consistently high driving performance with a residual tread height of about 2 mm are not a myth, but a reality brought to life by French tyre manufacturers from Michelin.
Stability is a sign of excellence
The secret of the model's success in the tyre arena is explained by the use of a special EverGrip sipe technology. U-shaped narrow slots on the tread blocks “open” as they wear out and degenerate into wide drainage grooves that maintain the constant negative profile of the tyre. Channels wait in the wings in the thickness of the compound. The wear of the rubber exposes them and the tyre still remains performant on winter roads.
European type
In general, the Michelin Alpin 6 belongs to the category of European tyres. The model's belonging to this class of winter tyres is clearly hinted at by the characteristic herringbone-shaped projector pattern with a developed network of drainage channels. The element of tyres is paved roads in mild winters without a lot of snow and heavy ice.
Strengths
Due to the low rolling resistance, over the period of operation, the tyre will save more than one liter of fuel. Also, the model is notable for its sensitive responsiveness to steering commands, comfort and ride stability. "Erasing" the tyre "to zero" is still not recommended. The driver will be informed about the limiting degree of wear of the tread by “tattooed” engravings indicating its minimum allowable residual height.
