Line Lenovo Legion Pro 5 16IRX8

A line of stylish, powerful, well-equipped, and quite expensive laptops from Lenovo. Depending on hardware combinations, they can belong to the mid-range or high-end levels. They are members of the not-so-ordinary Legion Pro gaming laptop family, which bridges the gap between gaming and specialized laptops for professional work with audio, photo, and video sources, coding, neural networks, and big data.

All Lenovo Legion Pro 5 16IRX8 laptops feature high-class 16-inch IPS displays with a resolution of 2560x1600 pixels (aspect ratio 16:10), an enhanced refresh rate of up to 240 Hz, support for HDR10/Dolby Vision formats, natural color accuracy (100% sRGB coverage, Pantone certified) and built-in NVIDIA G-Sync adaptive sync system. Such displays are ideal for gamers and professionals who value visual accuracy and image playback smoothness.

Performance in games and specialized software is driven by the Intel Core Raptor Lake platform: most commonly, you'll find models with a 16-core Core i7 processor, occasionally more modest options with a 14-core Core i5, or flagship modifications based on a 24-core Core i9. The RAM ranges from 16 to 64 GB (note: utilizing fast new generation DDR5 memory with a clock speed of 4800 MHz).

Some modifications are equipped with two 2048 GB SSDs, providing a substantial total internal storage capacity. However, more commonly, laptops with 512 or 1024 GB of storage are available. Video graphics processing relies on GeForce RTX 4050/4060/4070 cards from the new NVIDIA GPU generation ― Ada Lovelace. Component cooling and performance optimization are handled by the proprietary Legion Coldfront cooling system, controlled by a Lenovo LA AI chip with embedded machine learning algorithms.

It optimizes system indicators, monitors component temperatures, and tracks game FPS. By learning user habits, it adjusts system metrics automatically to find the optimal balance between power, component heating, and noise levels emitted by the laptop. Among other distinctive features of the Legion Pro 5 laptops, a large set of connection ports (6 USB ports of different classes, no Thunderbolt), extremely fast charging (100% in 60 minutes), a Full HD webcam, convenient keyboard with zonal RGB backlighting, and a modern network controller with a gigabit LAN port, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.1 should be noted.

Model overview based on user reviews
The Lenovo Legion Pro 5 16IRX8 is a highly regarded gaming laptop known for its powerful performance and efficient cooling system. Users appreciate its modest design and 240 Hz screen, which enhances the gaming experience. The laptop features an RGB keyboard backlighting option, although not all models include this. It handles demanding games like Far Cry 6 on ultra settings with ease, delivering impressive frame rates. Despite its strengths, the laptop's battery life is a common drawback, typical of gaming laptops, and it lacks biometric security features. The sound quality is noted as quiet, but can be improved with software like Nahimic. The device offers customization options through Lenovo Vantage and Lenovo Hotkeys, allowing users to tailor settings to their preferences. Overall, the Lenovo Legion Pro 5 16IRX8 is a solid choice for both gaming and work, promising to meet user needs for years to come.
Pros

Cons

A wonderful device for robots and games. I recommend!

I took the 82WK0046US model. I want to say that it's not a bad thing, and my model also has RGB keyboard backlighting (some models don't have it). Very good performance, Far Cry 6 on ultra settings and 2K - 80 FPS. It was also a surprise that the memory operates not at 4800 MHz, but at 5200 (Intel Core i7 processors do not support 5200, so the laptop shows 4800, although it's actually 5200). The camera is ordinary, but I did not expect that such a small camera would have such a wide field of view. The sound is not great, it is quiet but installing Nahimic solves this. I have not tested the battery life, but they say it provides 3 hours of 4K video at full brightness. Among the drawbacks - if you run something like Teardown on ultra settings in 2K and detonate a nuclear bomb there, the laptop starts to lift off, though thanks to this "lifting off" it hardly heats up and is comfortable to work on (the noise problem can be solved either with headphones or a quiet mode (however, in this case, the performance will decrease)). Also, with Lenovo Vantage, you can adjust almost all the parameters for yourself, and with Lenovo Hotkeys, you can set up keyboard combinations for different tasks. An upgrade of the RAM is also available, and it's not surprising in 2024. I guess that's all I wanted to say, I wish everyone good health and luck!
Modest design
VERY large power supply
Sound
Autonomy (the trouble of all gaming laptops)
"Airplane" mode
The handle of the box looks unreliable (although I tested it and it did not want to tear, so in essence, this is not a drawback)
wonderful model, really honored
