Model overview based on user reviews
The Kumho I`ZEN KW31 tires are praised for their good value for money and excellent performance on both dry and wet roads. Users appreciate their durability, with minimal wear even after extensive use, and they find them suitable for city driving due to their low noise level. However, caution is advised on packed snow and ice, as the tires can struggle in these conditions, with ABS frequently activating and increasing braking distances. Despite this, the tires are considered a great budget option, offering reliable handling at higher temperatures and on European highways. Overall, they are recommended for those seeking a cost-effective, non-studded winter tire.

First impressions: it doesn’t make noise and there’s no drone; overall it feels like a solid, dependable all-rounder. Handling is above average—this isn’t a summer racing tire. Braking is fine, it doesn’t feel floaty, but it’s not outstanding, just decent. Price is king: a brand-new set of four 175/65/14" tires from 2018 cost just €9,400. For its price I don’t see these as drawbacks, but it’s still a bit heavier than some competitors by 100–150 grams, and across 4 wheels that’s half a kilo of unnecessary ballast that affects consumption. On ice, the braking distance is longer than with the Yokohama I had before the Kumho (Marshal), and the price for Yokohama now isn’t even comparable. I also want to note a tread quirk: after sitting for half an hour at -10, the rubber turns rock-hard — that’s ice in the tread freezing solid and you need to knock it off; after a few minutes of driving everything’s fine. |
I specifically chose non-studded tires since I mostly drive in the city and don't need extra noise. As it turned out, they're quite decent city tires. Not perfect, but they fully justify the investment. You can safely buy and use them. Good value for money. Performs excellently on both dry and wet roads. Starts and brakes normally. It's better not to make sharp turns on snow, but that's true for any tire in winter. It's not too noisy. It endured the season well considering I drove a lot. On packed snow it's manageable, but I highly advise against driving on ice. If you already went out on the ice, be very cautious. ABS kicks in frequently, doubling the braking distance. use Kumho I`ZEN KW31 month or more i recommend it should buy |
The tires are excellent. I drove on them all last winter, which was about 12,000 km. They hardly wore out during all that time, the tread looks new, and even all the nubs are still in place. I drove both on snow and ice - they perform excellently. My friend with his Continentals was complaining and looking envious, but I had no problems with them at all. Of course, dry asphalt feels slightly less comfortable, but still fine. So, for this price, this option is simply excellent. I recommend buying them. Like all Velcro, it makes a bit of noise. But there's nothing you can do about it. Any other winter studless tire will make just as much noise. use Kumho I`ZEN KW31 month or more i recommend it should buy |
