How to choose RAM?Tips for choosing the optimal RAM parameters that will ensure stable operation and PC performance
Model overview based on user reviews
The G.Skill Sniper X DDR4 2x16Gb RAM is praised for its unusual camouflage appearance and reliable performance. Users appreciate its ability to achieve the desired frequency and timings, with one user successfully setting it to 3200 MHz with timings of 16-18-18-36 on an AM5 system. Another user noted the high frequency capability "out of the box" and the use of Hynix CJR chips, although they experienced some limitations with older Zen+ processors. However, after upgrading to a Zen 2 CPU, the memory worked well with the XMP profile. Overall, it is considered a good value, though some find it slightly overpriced at present.
Pros
Cons
1 High frequency "out of the box" 2 Hynix CJR chips 1. With Zen+ (I had a Ryzen 5 2600), XMP didn't work, the maximum I managed to achieve was 3400 MHz with timings of 18-19-23-36. But this is more a question for Zen+ than for the memory. 2. After replacing the CPU with Zen 2 (Ryzen 5 3600), it worked fine with the XMP profile. I couldn't decrease the timings, but this time it is more of a question for the BIOS GSE Lite functionality (MSI B450 A-PRO motherboard (not the MAX version), which I had to switch to in order to support Zen 2 and Zen 3. ![]() |
I've been using it for 2 months, installed it under AM5, with an Asus TUF GAMING B550M-PLUS board, and a Ryzen 5600 processor. Installed in slots 2 and 4, turned on XMP, the frequency set to 3200 just as I wanted, timings 16-18-18-36. Unusual appearance (camouflage) Frequency, timings, everything as it should be No ![]() |
