Which is better: wet or dry heating element in a water heater?Learning the design features, pros and cons of "wet" and "dry" heating elements in water heaters

Detailed FAQ on storage water heatersWe answer the most common questions regarding the installation and operation of storage water heaters
Model overview based on user reviews
The Drazice OKC is a modern combined boiler that offers versatility by being heated through a solid fuel boiler during the heating season and a "dry" ceramic tubular heater in the summer. This design enhances heat transfer and minimizes scale formation, making maintenance straightforward. The boiler features a built-in spiral heat exchanger and is equipped with two thermostats for operation and safety. Its internals are protected by high-quality enamel to prevent corrosion. However, some users have noted that the tank heats up slowly and the thermometer's placement makes it difficult to read. Despite these issues, the Drazice OKC is considered a high-quality Czech product suitable for private households. However, there are concerns about durability, as one user reported a leak after two years of service, indicating potential serious flaws in some models.
Pros
Cons
Personally, for me, Czechs are almost like Germans. Well, not in the literal sense, they are still Slavs by origin, but in their attitude to work and in terms of the quality of Czech goods, they stand out. Therefore, I chose not the domestic Atlantic and not the Chinese Ariston, but this 100% Czech brand. I think that this is one of the most affordable really high-quality options. This is a modern combined boiler, which during the heating season is heated by the heating circuit of a solid fuel boiler (also Czech, by the way), and in the summer it is warmed by a "dry" ceramic tubular heater. The advantage of such a heating element (TEN) can be considered an increased heat transfer area, which is carried out through the wall of the steel bulb, and the absence of scale formation directly on the heating element (TEN) itself. Moreover, if it breaks down, replacement will be quite simple. There is no need to disassemble or dismantle the tank from the system; it is enough to just remove the bottom cover. Heating from the boiler is done through a built-in spiral heat exchanger with an area of just under half a square meter and designed for an impressive pressure of up to 10 atm. The device is equipped with two thermostats – operating and safety ones. To prevent corrosion, all the internals are protected by high-quality enamel, which does not crack at water temperature fluctuations. A special service hatch is provided for maintenance. And when heated from the heating circuit of a solid fuel boiler and with electrical power, the tank heats up slowly, if not very slowly. The tank is suspended from the ceiling and the thermometer located in its upper part turned out to be very high, the readings are not very visible. Yes, and sometimes he cheats decently. |
