Model overview based on user reviews
The Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V1 tires are praised for their excellent grip on wet, icy, and snowy surfaces, making them a reliable choice for winter conditions. Users appreciate their quiet performance and predictable handling, even in deep snow, with minimal noise compared to studded models. The tires are noted for their durability and low wear, with one user reporting only 20% tread wear after 20,000 km. While they are primarily road tires, they perform well in various conditions, including slush and wet roads. Some users mention that the tires could be softer, and there are minor quirks on heavily melted snow, but these are not significant drawbacks. Overall, the Blizzak DM-V1 is considered a great value, offering a balance of comfort, safety, and performance, making them a preferred choice for many, even if they were priced higher.

For the first time, I bought winter tires :) And it’s also my first car (Chevrolet Niva). So I have nothing to compare it to. I liked everything. There were no problems in the first season. I didn't use them on ice though—I just didn’t risk driving on those days, as I lack experience. For this reason, I didn’t exceed a speed of 140 km/h with these tires. Under these conditions, the tire's behavior was predictable, with no issues arising. I mostly use them for city driving. Haven't had the chance to try it on ice yet. However, it handles slush and simply wet roads excellently. Not too noisy, although it doesn't set a record for quietness either. Quite soft and comfortable. Haven't found any yet. And I hope I won't find any :) |
I have size 17, it clears any snow quite well, the sliding on ice with it is reduced almost to zero, but it's true that it's not studded, it still falls short compared to studded tires, but you really need studs 3-4 times for the whole winter, and the noise is enough to drive you crazy. However, after reading various forums, I realized that the behavior on these tires differs with different cars, so it all depends on the car's settings, whether it's all-wheel drive or not, how the ABS works, and so on... Very quiet, regardless of the surface; other tires sometimes hum differently on various asphalt types, but these perform consistently everywhere. I often drive in villages and the city, and there is no difference in stability on any surfaces. These tires roll well; from a hill, you can accelerate, put it in neutral, and it just glides without any resistance. Excellent wear; after 20,000 km, I've only worn about 20% of the tread, which I consider quite little for these tires. In general, the tires should be somewhat off-road, but they are pure road tires. However, this is not very critical. I would advise people who have just bought tires to go and test them somewhere when braking, as they behave differently than regular tires, they stop faster and more precisely, and they behave differently, you might get scared during the first emergency braking. |
Subaru Forester car. Wanted to buy the branded "Hakkapeliitta-7," but couldn't find my size. Had to buy Blizzak DM-V1. Drove for one winter. Didn't notice anything outstanding about these "tires." Just honest, regular winter tires. Pretty quiet, soft, grippy, and durable. In short, if you drive smart, you can get out of any trouble. Well, as we know, no studs can help fools. Honest winter tires doesn't reach for the stars use Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V1 month or more i recommend it should buy |
